Daily activities of the owner of a 20 acre Organic
Farm plus
observations, notes, and comments on a wide variety of topics.
| 1 | Started more rosemary, lavender, and ornamental grass in the basement greenhouse. Moved the lavender sprouts to 18 cell flats. |
| 2 | Continues to re-plant lavender sprouts from 72 cell flats to 18 cell flats. |
| 3 | Trimmed trees around the farm walking path. |
| 4 | Removed my photographic notecards from 2 of the shops in the area. Although the cards sold fairly well, between the cost of gas and the cost of my time, I felt that I needed to eliminate my cards from area shops. |
| 5 | Finished re-potting lavender plants ~ guessing there were about 500 plants. |
| 6 | "Shotgun" Medical Research I get a bit bothered by fund raising projects to support medical research. You know, telethons, walk-a-thons, - things like that. While I'm all for medical research, have you ever given any thought about how it's all coordinated? What exactly is the research strategy that your funds are supporting? Without any central coordination of efforts, duplication of efforts seems to be inevitable. I imagine missed items are possible too where one group assumes some other group is working a some item. I'm also bothered a bit in that there's no form of report of what accomplishments were achieved from last year's dollars. I'm sure there were a number of medical folks who were kept from the unemployment lines, but what's the big picture? I would feel much better if some master Disease(Cancer?) Research Plan was published. It would describe what was know known, what was accomplished last year, the plan for the year ahead, and who is doing what. Currently, we seem to be giving lots of money to everyone to mostly do their own things. I think better organization and a defined strategy would yield better results for the same amount of money. |
