Daily activities of the owner of a 20 acre Organic Farm plus
observations, notes, and comments on a wide variety of topics.

1 Built our Roadside Farm Stand frame.

Made 3 more wooden holders for moving plants from our greenhouse to our Roadside Stand.

2 Mowed the paths around the farm.

Made 2 more wooden holders for moving plants.

3 Put plastic wind shields on the Farm Stand Frame.  Added shelves and signs.

Heavy frost - turned out to be the last for the 2004 season.

4 Bought more wood to add ends to plant carriers.
5 Opened the Farm Stand for business selling tomatoes, peppers, herbs, and flowers as seedling plants.  Made more signs and labels.
6 Made individual pots of pepper varieties that were missing from initial setup.

Disked and cultivated most fields on the farm.

7 Built shelves for the Farm Stand front bays.
8 Made individual pots for all basil plants that were still in flats.

Made 2 more wooden carriers for flower pots.

9 Closed the basement greenhouse with fluorescent lights.  All seedlings now in the outside greenhouse.
10 Disked the tomato field.   Re-planted volunteer ornamental sunflowers in prepared rows.
11 Roto tilled ornamental sunflower rows, peas, and Grape Field potatoes.
12 Roto-tilled potatoes at Blueberry Hill.  Raked and laid out the Basketball Field for planting birdhouse gourds.
13 Planted half the Basketball Field for birdhouse gourds.
14 Finished planting birdhouse gourds at the Basketball Field.

Moved larger tomato plants from 4" pots to 6" pots and raised the prices, too.

15 Mowed the paths around the farm.

Started setting in posts at the Tomato Field.

17 Planted sunflowers for seed head harvest in the Grape Field NW section.
18 Finished planting sunflowers in Grapes NW.  Disked other fields not planted yet.
19 Planted 1 row of cukes and pickles in the East Meadow - East Central Field.
20 Finished planting cukes and pickles.  Disked the pumpkin field.  Cut the Fairway Field for mulch.
21 Lost power for 24 hrs.
22 Ran electrical cable and garden hose so I could use a 12VDC pump powered from the farm tractor to pump out the basement sump with power off.

Raked the mulch cut in the Fairway Field.

23 Started setting out peppers.
24 Set out more peppers.
25 Finished setting out peppers.  Took leftover peppers and put in individual pots for sale as plants.
26 Set about half of the posts in the Tomato Field.
27 Set the remaining posts in the Tomato Field.
28 Disked and cultivated.   Planted mini-gourds and mini-pumpkins.  Planted more ornamental sunflowers.
29 Ran wires and twine for tomato field.  Put mulch on 4 rows.
30 Set out 3 1/2 rows of tomato plants before it started raining. (0.75")
31 Set out rows 4 & 5 in the Tomato Field.
