The delightful morning glory offers subtle shades of blue and a pink five pointed star circling a deep yellow center.  The morning glory is one of the very few flowers brightening the days before the first frosts of autumn.

This image was made with a digital scanner.  I wanted to showcase the blossom with the color and shape of its leaf.  I selected a diagonal balance arrangement, placing the point of the leaf in the lower right and the blossom in the upper left.  I left the lid of the scanner open to create the large black area in the lower left - the "weight" of the black balancing the other two elements.  Finally, the conical bloom was situated on the glass and flattened slightly, to bring out the star shaped pattern.
