Ornamental sunflowers "strut their stuff" in a prolific explosion of colors. In contrast to the singular blooming heads of the traditional sunflowers, ornamentals produce a dozen or more blooms per plant. Their vibrant, rich colors make me think they should be the flower for Indian Corn.
This image was done on a flatbed scanner. The blooms were arranged so that the majority of each flower was visible on the same flat plane. Care was taken to minimize any gaps between adjacent flowers. Finally, a layer of tissue paper was placed over their backside before the scanner lid was closed.
