Gourd birdhouses are great nesting sites for many small birds and can also serve as a decorative touch indoors.  Gourds are generally about 5" wide and 8" tall.  We make use of all the "bottle" gourd family for these decorated birdhouses - including Birdhouse, Lump-in-neck, Indonesian Bottle, Penguin, and Mexican Bottle shapes.  A Lump-in-neck gourd style is pictured.  Gourds are drilled with a 1-1/4" access hole for house wrens and have small drain holes drilled in the bottom.  Larger sized hole can be drilled at no extra charge (use the "Comments" section of the order form):
1-1/2" for bluebirds, swallows, and sparrows
2-1/2" for purple martins

The Painted Gourd Birdhouses have a white base coat and are painted with a delicate organic painting.  There is considerable variability with our painting, since we do each by hand according to what we feel like painting on a particular day.  We're sure you will be satisfied with our work, but if you want something specific, please indicate your desires in the "Comments" section of the order form.
