"Arthur here tells me you have been sent by God to deliver His message to His children" began the elder pastor, almost expecting Adam to say it wasnt true."He speaks the truth" replied Adam quickly."Why should I believe you?" asked Winston in a quick rebuttal. Arthur Kanger squirmed in his chair, uncomfortable of the courtroom-like proceedings."Do you believe in God?" asked Adam, slowing his delivery so that Winstons emotions couldnt build too quickly."Of course!" replied Winston."Why should I believe you?" asked Adam of the silver-haired pastor. Adam could almost see the pressure rise in Winston. His face was beginning to surpass the crimson of Adams plaid shirt."Mr. McDaniels, it is not my intent to challenge you or play word games. Like your faith in God, which you would struggle to make me believe, my mission is one which I would have trouble making you believe. God has created the clear sky here to show the truth of my words. You did drive through rain, didnt you?" asked Adam, wondering how Winston would explain that."We sure did!" exclaimed Arthur. It was as if driving through the rain into the clearing had convinced the young pastor that Adam was genuine.Again there was a knock at the door. Adam rose to answer it. As Adam walked to the door, Winston made a sour face at Arthur since the old man felt his young assistant was not on his side."Good morning, Mr. Sampson. Remember me, Lisa Walters from TV23?""Of course" replied Adam. "Were not scheduled until 10, right?""Yes, thats right" responded Lisa. "I wanted to make sure you didnt mind if we set up for the interview on your front porch here.""Whatever you think will work best" answered Adam. |
