Adam was up early Monday morning. He took a walk down the nature path by the lake in dawns dim light. The crowds from the day before were not around. Adam found himself at the edge of a clearing at the far end of the pine forest just as the sun was rising from behind the distant hills and penetrating the tops of the rain clouds. Adam leaned back against the last tree and took in nature. The birds of the meadow were singing their finest, although few had begun flying about. Adam savored the sunrise. He knew the day would be filled with people and cameras. As the sun emerged completely, it was evident that rain was falling elsewhere. The sky remained clear above the lake and resort as Adam had promised. Adam relaxed at several points along the nature trail and enjoyed the sights, sounds, and smells of the early morning.Back in the direction of the cabins came the distant sound of some large truck engines. The rumble caused Adam to head back down the path toward his cabin. As he made his way to the beach, he could see a large network trailer parked at the far end of the parking lot. There seemed to be two sections of the crew. One group was waving their arms at the nearby scenery, apparently setting up camera angles and lighting. The second group was pulling equipment from compartments on the truck and assembling cables. The sound of the big truck also brought out some of the others staying at the resort to see what was going on. Adam returned to his cabin and waited.Adam was napping on the couch when a knock at the door brought him to his feet. As he opened the door, Adam was pleased to see Reverend Kanger, who seemed to have brought an older man along."Adam Sampson, Id like you to meet Winston McDaniels. Hes the pastor in charge of our congregation. Im his assistant. I told him about what happened yesterday and took the liberty of asking him to join me this morning."Adam shook Winstons hand warmly. "Pleased to meet you. Please come in."The duo entered the cabin and took their seats on the plain furnishings. |
