"How many of todays news stories are presented with such depth and objectivity?" asked Adam. The pastor was on the spot for an answer once more and could hardly believe he was starting to evaluate his answers again. Finally he blurted out "Not nearly enough.""Quite true" responded Adam. "This is another of societys sins in the eyes of God.""Really!?" remarked the pastor. "Im surprised that God would be concerned with something as small as the evening news on TV.""Its much more general than that" explained Adam. "News people are in a position where they have the trust of people - for accurate information. The times they distort the news, they are betraying the trust of man. The same is true of those leading the churches of the world. They have the trust of the people. Many are using this trust for their own purposes - certainly not doing Gods work! All those in a position to have the trust of man - media, clergy, politicians, public service groups, medical groups - all need to understand their responsibility - for God has grown tired of many who are betraying this trust!"For the first time, the pastor was a little frightened. This stern delivery was a side of Adam he had not seen. The pastor coughed slightly and said "You know, I should probably be going.""As you wish" replied Adam as both rose from their seated positions. As they walked toward the door Adam continued "You know, pastor, all of Gods work isnt sunshine and roses. Much of it is, but sometimes to make the world a better place, you have to do battle with evil and indifference. To be successful, you have to stand strong and often endure great pain.""Ill remember that" said the pastor, now wanting to stay longer but couldnt since he had talked his way out the door."Would you like to stop by tomorrow and talk some more?" asked Adam, sensing the pastors awkward position."Sure! Any special time?""Better make it about 8:30 in the morning. The rest of the day will be hectic" predicted Adam."8:30 it is" replied the pastor. As he turned toward the parking lot, it suddenly struck the pastor that Adam may have just shared one of his future visions with him. The pastor had been with Adam since the mobile TV crew had left and nobody else had spoken to Adam that afternoon - and yet somehow Adam knew tomorrow would be hectic.Adam closed the door to the cabin as the pastor drove away from the resort. Just then the phone rang. It was Lisa Walters from the TV station. Adam agreed to a 10am interview the next morning. There would be more equipment and more networks participating in the interview. This was fine with Adam. The next page in Gods plan was about to unfold. |
