Chapter 4

An Afternoon At The Resort

"Mr. Sampson, I’m Arthur Kanger. I was in charge of the baptism this morning" said the pastor. The cameraman moved to frame the scene as Lisa kept the microphone near the two without blocking the camera view with her body. Adam and the pastor shook hands.
"Pleased to meet you formally. I hope I didn’t give you too much of a start this morning" Adam answered.
The pastor continued as if the camera crew wasn’t present "I was a bit surprised . . . and would like to better understand what it all means."
"And so would our viewers" inserted Lisa as she saw an opportunity to gain control of the interview.
"Basically, I have been sent by God to be a messenger" replied Adam rather matter of factly. "In the storm last night, my mind and body were prepared for the work to be done. This morning, with Pastor Kanger’s help, I received the blessing of God’s vision and was given God’s word. The clouds were parted as a sign of God’s power and to show the truth of my words. The opening in the clouds will be there for seven days for anyone to inspect or study."
"Mr. Sampson, is it true that your wife and daughter were killed in a traffic accident yesterday?" asked Lisa carefully, watching for the reaction on Adam’s face.
"Yes" replied Adam calmly.
"Don’t you morn their deaths?" asked Lisa, surprised that her earlier question hadn’t received a more profound response or a more visible reaction.
"No" replied Adam, again without much feeling. Looking directly into Lisa’s eyes Adam continued "They took their place with God. Now God is with me. They are with me. One day I will join them."
"Are you claiming to be a Christ?" asked the pastor, who had suddenly become skeptical hearing Adam’s latest words.
"I don’t think I understand the question" replied Adam innocently.
