Chapter 21

Preparations

The preparations for A Day With God were staggering. In addition to building the stages and the media towers, there were countless other details to attend to. The public transportation, seating, refreshments, and restrooms all had to be addressed and result in no charges to the attendees. In conjunction with these aspects of the event, 800,000 pairs of free tickets had to be given away in a raffle which ensured the even and impartial distribution that Adam had insisted upon.
The promoters obtained access to a gentle canyon area where a stage complex was built at the lower end. The gradual slope provided an unobstructed view of the stage area for anyone seated. The canyon width was also ideal for the placement of the stage. The canyon walls were rounded with age and had numerous gaps which would serve as arteries to get people in and out. The sparse covering of prairie grass required little preparation for the event. An interstate highway exit was less than a mile from the site. Things seemed perfect.
The central stage complex was built with three joined stages. This allowed one group or presenter to be performing while the next set up on a different stage.
The setting and the size of the crowd required an extensive sound system as well as a system of large video screens to allow even the most remote seats to have a good view of what was happening on stage.
Everything was ready.
