Adam concluded "After you have found God, the next thing is to make use of the gifts God has made available to you to make the world a better place."Jamahl asked the next question. "Are we really the center of Gods attention?""Jamahl," began Adam "man has long held a belief that he has been the center of everything. In ancient times, they believed that earth was the center of the solar system, the solar system the center of the galaxy, and our galaxy the center of the universe. We now know our physical place in the cosmos is not in the center. It doesnt mean we dont exist. It doesnt mean we are any more important than the rest of the stars and planets - only that we are part of a bigger whole. Our relationship with God is much the same. God has no favorites or priorities as humans do. We are part of the bigger whole to God - not unimportant - but not the only thing either."One of the citizens asked "Theres quite a stir in the religious communities about your comments that parts of the ancient holy books may not really represent Gods word - that they contain false statements - lies if you will. Is it your intention to create this turmoil?"Adam thought for a moment and responded "Lies are lies - truth is truth. A lie shouted from the rooftops, believed by an entire civilization, recorded in beautiful manuscripts, and passed down through hundreds of generations . . . is still a lie." Adam then spoke quietly "The whispered truth by one person which nobody records will always be the truth."Another citizen asked "Mr. Sampson, how would we go about ending the conflicts around the world?"Again Adam took a few moments to ponder the issue and collect his thoughts "While there is no perfect answer to all situations, Ill offer two suggestions. The first is to understand similarities and differences. Opposing factions should take some time to formally list all the values they share, as well as the values they disagree over. Its often surprising to see how similar two groups are who think they have nothing in common. Its also disappointing to think about the conflicts through the ages which happened where nobody took the time to clearly understand the issues - and often fought over nothing." |
