"Why do we have so few areas like this?" asked Adam rather rhetorically. "In some shape or form, it usually gets back to greed. Too many people allow the acquisition of wealth to guide their decision making processes. In the few cases where the focus is not whats in it for me? - and people have taken the approach what can we do for others - today and in the future? - some very special places - like this - have been set aside. Its never too late to begin creating other parks like this."Pastor Kanger saw an opportunity for a question that had puzzled him for some time. "Adam, as I see your feet in the water, Im curious about your thoughts about baptism.""In many ways, baptism is really no different than any other religious ritual. How its performed, its meaning and value depend largely on the individual and the circumstances. For me, it marked a new beginning - a sudden and personal relationship with God. As you may recall, you selected some special words for my ritual. They were right for me and my situation."Adam continued "Baptism is certainly not any requirement. People find God in many different ways. Some find God by themselves. Others find God with a helping hand from someone else. Often, this helping hand is direct like I experienced with you. Many, however, get help in finding God from others long ago through their writings in ancient manuscripts."Adam concluded "The path you take to find God is really not important. The important thing is that somehow you find God. Many children grow up being told that they believe in God, but never find God for themselves - on their own terms - as a significant part of their lives - and God never becomes an important part of their value system. For some, like me, it takes a bolt of lightning to discover God. For many, God is discovered by seeing something familiar - often something simple - in a new way. Once Gods grand design is seen in one thing, it is soon seen in everything. I guarantee you will always remember that first day you found God, established a personal relationship, and started to believe - and consequently started to better understand life." |
