Dr. OConnors home was very large, especially when compared to Jeff Gladdings apartment. The house was nestled in a wooded lot in the suburbs. All of the homes in the area were similar in nature. The people who lived here definitely had to have considerable wealth to afford such splendor.Dr. OConnors wife Margaret met Adam and the pastor when they pulled in the drive, following the doctors car."Welcome to our home!" exclaimed Margaret, bursting in delight to the point that she wasnt really sure what to do with all her energy. "When my husband called and said you would be staying with us tonight, I couldnt believe it! I wish I had more time to prepare our guest rooms for you and clean the house a little better!""Mrs. OConnor, we have come to visit with you, not these structures" responded Adam. "Everything will be fine - please relax."Adam and the pastor were unloading their bags from the trunk of the car when a police car drove up. A detective got out and asked "You want the media kept out or let in on your property?"The doctor looked at Adam and said "Id prefer they stay out, but I will go along with Mr. Sampsons wishes.""Tonight, please keep them off the property" replied Adam. "We need some quiet, quality time to discuss many things.""You got it!" replied the detective who reached for his radio as he got in the car and backed out of the drive. Everyone else walked into the doctors house."If you dont mind, Ive invited a couple of the neighbors and a couple friends over for dinner" stated Mrs. OConnor to both Adam and her husband, partly as a question."Margaret!" sighed the doctor. "I thought we could have a quiet evening . . . alone!" |
