Adam and the pastor followed Sue Baileys car to a hospital parking lot on the east side of town. They parked their cars and were joined by some of the people who had followed them through the streets of the city. Waiting in the parking lot was a couple of mobile unit trucks from Sues TV station."What have you got here?" asked Adam as he got out of the car next to Sues open door."A burn victim, Melissa Meyers" answered Sue. "There was an apartment fire two nights ago we covered on the late night news and I remembered about a 12-year-old girl who had been seriously burned. They have her here in the special burn unit.""Sounds like a good candidate!" remarked Adam. "Lets go!"One of Sues crew was following them pretty close. "Do you mind the crew being this close?" asked Sue."No, not today" answered Adam. "Its very important that what happens here today is recorded accurately."Inside the lobby they were met by Dr. OConnor. After introductions the doctor warned "I need to know what you have planned. I cant take any chances of infection.""I need to have Miss Bailey, myself, and at least one camera crew at the side of Melissa" said Adam. "If none of the burn is exposed, I would like to uncover some of it so we can see if we are making progress. Miss Bailey will need to touch the girl somewhere on her body but it doesnt have to be the burn area. The whole process shouldnt take more than 20 minutes or so."The doctor turned to speak with some of the others of the medical staff who had gathered. After a few moments and some gesturing, the doctor answered "We normally would not allow this sort of thing, but because of what we have seen and heard about Mr. Sampson, we will make an exception. Instead of bringing your equipment into the burn room, we will empty an adjoining room where you can set up. We will wheel Melissa in when youre ready." |
