As Adam and Pastor Kanger awoke at Jeff Gladdings apartment, they could hear occasional muffled noises outside and noticed some flashes of light.Jeff drew back a corner of the front window curtain and looked outside. "Oh, man! You should see all the people!" he exclaimed. Jeff blinked his eyes a few times in an effort to make sure he was awake and not just dreaming."You think God got the attention of some people, then?" asked Adam with a grin. Adam looked at the pastor with approval. Pastor Kanger shook his head slightly and returned Adams smile - he was continually surprised at each new development with Adam."Come on, padre" directed Adam. "Lets get cleaned up and pack our things. Its time we moved on!""Youre always welcome here!" declared Jeff who sat down. He took a breath as the excitement from looking out the window was being replaced by some more serious thoughts. "You know, I cant begin to thank you for the profound changes you have made in my life."Adam replied, "What has Adam Sampson done? What has God done? Your pain and new insights yesterday were between you and God. I only told you it was going to happen and why.""All the same, thanks" answered Jeff as he got up to shake Adams hand.As Adam and Pastor Kanger emerged from Jeffs apartment with their suitcases, the vision that greeted them was quite different compared to Mondays peace and quiet. Today, there was a sea of people in every direction. At the front was the media. Flashes from countless cameras went off time and again. Flood lights from the many TV crews blanketed the second story landing and the stairway toward the parking lot. Across the street, one camera operator was perched at the end of an elevated mechanical boom.Adam had reached the top of the stairs, when there was a barrage of shouts from all the media at the same time. Each was trying to be the one to have their question answered. Adam looked at Pastor Kanger and shook his head in disgust. Ignoring the shouts from below, Adam paused at the head of the stairs and the media became suddenly silent. They hadnt stopped trying to shout, they all just had no voice. They looked at each other and at their crews in disbelief. It was as if God paralyzed their voice boxes. In the background, some muffled applause was heard as the citizens approved with the actions taken. |
