"An impressive list, Mr. Gladding" remarked Adam. "So what are you going to do about it?""Its clear to me it is all very wrong" said Jeff in remorse. "It was all too easy - THAT especially bothers me. Im afraid I wont be strong enough to keep from doing it again.""Have you heard my comments about prayer?" asked Adam.Jeff thought for a few moments "Yes - Im sure I saw that tape. Something about if you need some moments to regain your focus toward Gods way or something like that." Jeffs answer was phrased as half question and half statement."Pretty close!" said Adam. "When you feel a temptation in your path, just stop. Simply STOP! Take a moment or two to remember this day, your feelings at this moment. Think for a minute on what you understand to be Gods way. You might be surprised how effective a few quiet seconds can be in the face of temptation. Add to that quiet reflection a positive attitude on your ability to walk Gods path and you should never again feel like you do today."Adam placed his hand on Jeffs shoulder. "Why dont you stay here today? Ill grab a quick shower then the padre and I need to go out and visit both the afflicted and the well.""Im not sure I have much choice!" responded Jeff. His right leg was now without feeling at all. From the bathroom Adam answered "If you mean about today, youre probably right. If you are referring to the days to come, remember you will always have choices. Find the way to always make the right choices!" Adam closed the bathroom door.As Adam and the pastor left the second story apartment, they looked out over what they could see of the city. Compared to the day before when people and traffic were everywhere, this morning was quiet. There were a few cars visible and a few people here and there. "Maybe we should have turned on the TV!" commented Arthur. |
