With Saturdays dawn came the last clear day for the resort area. Without rain for a week, things had dried out quite a bit. The evenings dew could not provide adequate nourishment for the plants and grasses, especially with the crowds of the week. The people of the resort were looking forward to some rain. Also, Adam had announced that he would be leaving the resort on Sunday. While Adam was very special to the residents, they would not miss the large crowds and media that he attracted. At the morning press conference, Denise Esposito asked Adam "Mr. Sampson, many of our viewers would like to get a better understanding of God. Can you tell us anything about Him?""Yes, of course" replied Adam who began making a number of facial gestures as he gathered his thoughts. He also turned to face Denise in a way that seemed to shut out the other correspondents who were present."First of all, it is hard to describe Gods true nature and even harder for you to comprehend. I will try to explain things in terms you will be able to understand.""A good comparison is gravity. The ancients didnt know about gravity, so they made stories to explain it. Today, we understand that gravity is a fundamental force of nature. We dont exactly know how it works, but we know the formulas which describe its effects. We can see evidence of it in action. We fully expect gravity to work in the far corners of the universe much the same as it works here on earth. We believe this same gravity was present in the past and will endure forever.""God is much like gravity. God is part of all things, in all places, at all times. God can be like a force to cause change - from very subtle details to changes which reach all corners of the universe - the birth and death of stars - the birth and death of man.""From the Bible we are lead to believe that man was created in Gods image" stated Denise. "Is this true?""If you mean, Does God have two legs, two hands and a flowing white robe? The answer is No. The way in which man is like God is that we have the ability to understand some complex concepts: right and wrong, stewardship, the physical laws of nature, the future effects of our actions, to name a few. We can make global changes through our actions. The deer and the butterflies dont have these abilities. We do. So does God." |
