The walking paths of our Organic Farm have been lined with over 300 trees that I have transplanted from other areas of our property. While most are maples, we also have a number of oaks, hawthorne, crabapple, dogwood, and other native trees. In addition to our native trees we have planted several trees not native to our farm. These "imports" would include hedge apple, redwood, ginko, sweet gum, tulip, and sycamore. I use the brushhog on Miss Daisy to keep the grass on the paths fairly short (for farm standards, anyway). This makes for easy walking in the summer and an enjoyable cross contry ski outing in winter. We make leaf prints from the various leaves which can be used for sewing projects. |
