When we bought our farm in 1994, the main Grape Area was laid our for commercial picking. Since we wanted to leave the grapes on the vine for wildlife and wanted to make the farm easier to maintain, I moved every other row from the main Grape Area to this field. I spaced the rows so that Miss Daisy could mow on either side of each row and yet leave a 12ft wide wild area between each row for wildlife habitat. The many pheasants on our property think this is an ideal arrangement. |
