Organic Farm - East Crop Area
Organic Farm Tour

Organic Farm East Crop Area

The East Crop Area of our Organic Farm takes a little explaining.  There are actually two parallel planting areas, separated by a 8ft strip of mowed sod.  The mowed sod runs down the center of the photo and the planting areas run on either side.  The center section allows a path for the tractor once the crops are up.  The rows in the foreground are 150ft long, the next section is 210ft long, and the last section (just barely visible at the top) is 180ft long.

The separation of the planting areas allows me to focus on a different crop in each area.  This year the middle section had cukes and green peppers.  The far section on the left had turnips and the far right had striped sunflowers.  The near section on the left had green beans while the near right "sorta" had carrots (I planted them but the weeds won out - DANG!).
