Most farms collect piles of brush - ours is no exception. Our brush is gathered and staged with wildlife habitat in mind. As a result, we never burn the brush. There are several brush piles scattered about the farm. This one is located near the center of our property - the East Pond and Marsh Pond can be seen in the background. Our brush seems to be home to raccoons, skunks, ground hogs, rabbits, and probably more rodents than I'd care to think about. On the other hand, the hawks and coyotes keep the rodent population in check. |
This brush pile in winter attests to some of the residents(rabbits) whose footprints show where the doorways are hidden. |
