Between our sandy Potato Field and the Blueberry Pond are our blueberry bushes. We have 75 or so bushes formed in two rows. This is a challenging area for us since all the birds in the area have a taste for the berries and we don't use chemicals to keep them away. We also get families of ducks in the berries - they excel in scarfing down the low berries or any that get knocked to the ground. Sometimes when we are picking the berries, there will be a family of ducks on the opposite side of the bush - ready to pounce on any berries that are dropped. |
In this winter shot, all the footprints are from my efforts to trim the blueberries as they take their winter nap. |
