Milkweeds were captured at the moment of releasing their downy seeds into the autumn breeze.

I wanted to tell a mini-story by capturing the dense packed seeds in the ripe pod, a bunch of seeds emerging from a pod, and the delicate filaments of the milkweed seed in free-flight.  I found that many of the problems staging this photo in the field were simplified by arranging everything on a flatbed digital scanner.  The scanner cover was left open to produce the dark background.
