I was amazed to see the variety of grasses which were present on our 20 acre farm.  One day, I collected samples of each variety I saw.  This is an image which is fun to study as it seems you can always see something different.

This was a digital scanner "photo".  In addition to paying attention to layering, I also wanted to pay attention to the vertical position of each grass type.  I wanted the grass seed heads in the upper right to tower over the others and have some clear space where its structure could be seen.  I also wanted to have the grasses seem to be angling from a common base - presenting a radial fan shape.
