The reflection of a fallen tree was the center for this photograph taken in Berrien County, Michigan's Warren Woods State Park. The graceful horizontal arch of the fallen tree (and its reflection) are in contrast to the straight lines of the upright trees.
The composition for this photograph started by violating the rule of thirds - placing the horizon in the middle of the photo. In this case, that helped to emphasize the reflection theme. I had to maneuver to get the river banks to form leading lines to the arch and the get the glowing yellow tree on the right. As you can probably tell, I had to walk into the river to get the "right" view. Well, I had to throw away my shoes - but I'll always have this photograph.
