A frog greets one of the first warm spring days by enjoying the shallows of a marsh - keeping a watchful eye on a clumsy photographer.

This photograph is an example of a technique called "balanced ratio flash".   When your electronic flash has manual override settings, the energy output can be adjusted to be less than, equal to, or greater than ambient light.  In this photograph, I elected to exactly balance ambient light.  At first look, it isn't evident that a flash was used at all.  However, the burst of light from the flash brightened the frog's colors and added some reflected highlights from his moist skin.
