This was one of those spectacular sunsets of southwestern Michigan.   Every color was there.  The single apple tree also seemed to be pausing at the end of the day to enjoy the scene - even the tire swing was hanging motionless, breathless - wishing the colors would stay.  The fleeting colors were so much like life itself - sometimes not lasting long enough, but full and rich and vibrant nonetheless.

The composition required a low camera position to eliminate some visual clutter which was on the horizon.  I would have liked to get lower and place more of the tire swing in the sky, but I was already laying on the dirt.  I tried getting closer, but I didn't have a wide enough lens to get the entire tree without distortion.  It's a good idea to take several exposures when shooting a sunset like this - some with your camera in auto, some in manual since modern exposure control systems don't always react predictably when shooting toward the sun.
