Apple Tree - Early Evening

The physical title of this photo is "Apple Tree - Early Evening" but I always see it more as "The Tree Of Life".  It was early spring and the buds were just forming on the tree.  The lack of leaves and the setting against the sky allowed every twig to be seen - the many branches (with buds of new life) suggesting a detailed family tree.  The brightest area of the sky seemed to glow from the interior of the tree - symbolic of the vast energy which powers the tree of life.

There were two important photographic techniques employed in this photograph.  The first was to lay on the ground.  This perspective placed the tree's branches against the sky and eliminated the visual clutter of the adjacent mobile home park.   Secondly, I set the camera's controls to "manual" and took a light meter reading in a section of the sky away from the sun.  I set the shutter speed and apeture, then returned to focus and release the shutter.
