		Is there anything which really says "summer" more than the sunflower? Maybe sweet corn and tomatoes come close, but they lack the joyful colorful face that the sunflower has. I also enjoy the way a whole field of sunflowers seems to stare intently at the rising sun and follow its every motion across the warm sky. There were two rather simple photographic techniques involved with this image. The first was a realization the the photo had to be in portrait format. Secondly, with a field of hundreds of plants to choose from, I found a plant which was both fully in bloom and yet lacked any visual clutter in the background.
