The key photographic element was to get a good point of view. I walked beside the boats, walked on the Blossomland Bridge over the St. Joseph River, and tried many intermediate vantage points. This seemed to be the best perspective as I was able to get fairly close and yet take advantage of a hillside for an elevated view. I also paid close attention to background distractions and decided that a hint of the cement elevator on the upper right was enough to offer a taste of the landmark and yet not allow it to compete with the sailboats for attention.
