The beaches at St. Joseph,
Michigan allow ample public access. This view is from the north beach which have
rolling dunes with beach grass. There aren't any significant structures (other than
the lighthouses and piers) and as a result, there is a surprising natural feeling even
though the city of St. Joseph is only a stone's throw away. This photo combined several
techniques. Since I wanted to give a feeling of depth, I selected a vertical format
which could include a nearby area (sand and stick), a middle area (waterline at the
beach), and a distant area (the lighthouses). I was able to adjust my position so
the piece of driftwood pointed at a lighthouse - a leading line which repeated the feeling
of depth. |
