Not being any
sort of expert on garden varieties (I think dandelions are pretty cool flowers), I am
attracted by shapes and colors and textures. In this photo, I liked the orange of
the little flower - it seems to be competing for attention with the large green plant and
the colorful rock. This is a good example of photographic
balance. The rock, the orange flower, and the large green plant have been positioned
for optical balance. This photo is also a good example of using manually override on
an exposure control system. I took metered manual camera settings from the shaded
region since that's where my subjects were. The manual exposure caused the sunlit
lower left corner to wash out a bit, but that's ok - without the splash of sunlight, the
photo would not be as interesting. |
