The 1992 AmeriFlora in Columbus, Ohio placed on display many different and exciting flowers. The exhibition also took some traditional flowers and did some pretty exciting things with them as well. In one area, they created a sea of multi-colored pansies which undulated in the summer breezes. It was the sort of thing that just made you stop and gasp in amazement.
This was a photograph where I wanted the deepest field of view possible - trying to keep each flower in focus. I used a short telephoto to compress the field and used a small aperture - this required a slow shutter speed, so I used a tripod. The tough part was waiting for all the people to get out of the way - but like usual, patience and persistence were a powerful combination.
