The state of Texas is to be congratulated for the care of their roadside stops.  In most states, these stops are generally sterile leftovers of the road building exercise.  In many areas of Texas, however, the weary driver is greeted by a sea of Bluebonnets as he pulls off for a break.   Thanks so much, Lady Byrd Johnson!

In a large bed of flowers, the photographer has a couple of choices: shoot the entire bed, pick out a few flowers, or pick out a single flower.  In this case, I found a Bluebonnet with a pink-nosed flower (Indian Paintbrush) nearby.  The pink was a good contrast in color, shape, and was in a good visual position.  I included the top of a second Bluebonnet in the lower left to balance the pink flower in the upper right.
